Das fragt sich auch der saudische Journalist Tariq Alhomayed von der semi-offiziellen Tageszeitung Al Sharq Al Awsat: Hisbollah versucht, das Leiden in Gaza für seine eigenen Aussichten bei den nächsten Wahlen auszuschlachten, aber ansonsten ist man auffällig vorsichtig. Offenbar ist Israels Botschaft im Südlibanon und auch im Iran angekommen.
Auch dieser sehr kritische Kommentar zeigt: Etwas hat sich gedreht im arabischen Lager, spätestens seit der Libanon-Krise vor zwei Jahren, als Hisbollah einen Krieg gegen Israel vom Zaun brach. Die arabische Welt will nicht länger hinnehmen, dass Iran über seine Terror-Organisationen im Nahen Osten über Krieg und Frieden bestimmt – über die Köpfe der Araber hinweg.
Und so wird sehr genau unterschieden zwischen der Solidarität mit dem leidgeprüften Volk von Gaza und seinen von Iran unterstützten terroristisch-mafiotischen Geiselnehmern, die es ins Unglück gestürzt haben.
Es könnte sein, dass Israel hier trotz aller Kritik ein Kriegsziel erreicht.

This is the same agreement that Iran had previously described as surrender, so why did demonstrations not take place in Iran against Ahmadinejad as they did a few days previously against Saudi Arabia and Egypt?
It is clear that some have not waited for the war to end to exploit what has happened; rather they do so candidly taking advantage of the thunderous noise of the brutal Israeli military machine in the ravaged Gaza Strip to cover up their deeds.
So we must monitor them.“
