Die hervorragende Iran-Expertin des New Yorker, Laura Secor, hatte in der letzten Woche Gelegenheit, mit Machmud Achmadinedschads engstem politischem Vertrauten, seinem Stabschef Esfandiar Rahim Maschaie, zu sprechen. Maschaie war mit dem Präsidenten bei der UN-Konferenz zur Überprüfung des nuklearen Nichtverbreitungsvertrages (NPT), wo jener eine seiner fulminanten Reden hielt.
Maschaie, der mit seinem Chef auf familiär verbunden ist (seine Tochter ist mit A.’s Sohn verheiratet), zeigt sich in seinen Äußerungen zur Menschenrechtslage im Iran von stalinistischer Härte. Und auch seine Einlassungen zur Frage der Nichtverbreitung von Atomwaffen sind von ernüchternder Klarheit. Es kann keine Rede davon sein, dass hier ein Gesprächsfaden aufgenommen werden soll:
„They always talk about proliferation. You know the meaning of proliferation? What we have now, that’s all right, but let’s not increase the number of arms. They are the biggest liars of the world, since the creation of Adam until now, and they are living in the United States. They are unique. And unfair. The policymakers in the United States. You cannot find people to be compared with them in history. We in Iran and the United States in Washington, we had meetings about nuclear disarmament at the same time. Our motto in Tehran was nuclear weapons for none. But in the United States, President Obama said, we should maintain our arsenal of nuclear weapons. They are like cowboys. They just play with their guns and they want to bring peace by doing so. Can they offer peace to the world with a knife? The West is a big liar. Nobody trusts the Western countries in the East.„
Schön, dass man es mal so klar gehört hat.
Interessant allerdings die Aussagen zu Israel – Maschaie war schon einmal durch (im iranischen Kontext) gemäßigte Äußerungen zu Israel aufgefallen:
„Iran does not consider the Israeli government legitimate. This does not mean we are going to take any steps against Israel. It’s just our thoughts. The Iranian Islamic government has a democratic solution toward resolving the issue of Palestine and Israel. We believe that if the Palestinians, the people who actually reside on that land, are given the right to determine their own regime, then obviously, naturally, the Israeli regime would not be governing those people. A lot of people are making this propaganda and publicity that Iran has the intention of attacking and invading Israel. That’s just negative publicity. It is baseless and not correct.“
In anderen Worten: Man wird Israel nicht angreifen, sondern setzt auf seine Delegitimation und sein Verschwinden auf „demokratischem“ Wege.
