In eigener Sache: Ich werde hier bis Ende nächster Woche wenig oder vielleicht auch gar nichts posten können, weil ich eine aufregende Reise nach Israel unternehme.
Ich bitte um Geduld – die Reise wird sicherlich auch für unsere Debatten hier einiges abwerfen.
Zur Einstimmung das Zitat eines meiner Säulenheiligen, des philosophierenden Hafenarbeiters Eric Hoffer, dessen Buch „The True Believer“ (“The opposite of the religious fanatic is not the fanatical atheist but the gentle cynic who cares not whether there is a god or not”) ich nur wärmstens empfehlen kann:
Hoffer schrieb 1968 über Israel:
“The Jews are a peculiar people: Things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews.
Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people, and there is no refugee problem. Russia did it. Poland and Czechoslovakia did it.Turkey threw out a million Greeks and Algeria a million Frenchmen. Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese–and no one says a word about refugees.

Daran ist immer noch sehr viel. (Auch wenn das mit den Flüchtlingen so ganz nicht mehr stimmt. Abbas und Olmert hatten einen Kompromiss verhandelt. Gescheitert sind ihre Verhandlungen nicht an der Flüchtlingsfrage.)
Ich werde mir in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Hebron und in der Nähe des Gaza-Streifens mit Freunden, NGO-Vertretern, Intellektuellen, IDF-Offizieren ein Bild von der Lage und von der Stimmung im Lande machen.
