Tariq Alhomayed, der Kommentator der wichtigsten panarabischen Zeitung Asharq Alawsat, ist wieder einmal in großer Form.
Er hat das hier von mir analysierte Interview mit dem Hamas-Führer Khaled Meshal gelesen und mach sich nun mit gehörigem Sarkasmus darüber her.
Die militanten Islamisten sind wirklich seltsam, schreibt er, denn am Morgen greifen sie ihre eigenen Leute an, weil sie unterwürfige Agenten Amerikas seien (das bezieht sich auf dievon den Radikalen kritisierten „moderaten“ arabischen Regime), um dann am Abend selber direkt mit den Amerikanern reden zu wollen.

Alle Extremisten und Schurken (Syrien, Iran, Hamas, Muslimbrüder) wollen auf einmal mit den Amerikanern reden. Der Grund dafür ist einfach, so Alhomayed:
The reason for this is very simple; all of the above movements and countries with counterfeit slogans want to become part of the international community. They can no longer tolerate isolation, because the price of this has become too high, but they do not want to say so [openly] otherwise people will tell them; [if that is the case] why have you shed all this blood, and why have you brought all this destruction down upon us?
And so [now] here is Khalid Mishal telling the New York Times that Hamas is eager for a ceasefire with Israel, and ready to complete the deal [for the release] of the kidnapped Israeli soldier, which is the complete opposite of what Hamas and the chorus of [other] Arab blood traders told the public at the time.
At the time they were saying to let Israel kill as many innocent people as possible, as this will force them to stop their attack due to international pressure, which is what happened in the 2006 Lebanon war. After this Hamas declared victory, which is literally what one of the Hamas leaders in New York announced on the same day that the Arabs were trying to push through a UN resolution to stop the war in Gaza.
Ausserdem macht Alhomayed sich auch her über die Behauptung Meshals, man habe den Raketenbeschuß Israels ausgesetzt, um eine Revision der Strategie zu unternehmen. Wenn das so ist, dann stellt sich folgende Frage:
„Mein Gott! Warum haben sie uns als Verräter und Agenten fremder Mächte bezeichnet, als wir gesagt haben, dass ihre Raketen nur aus Blech bestehen und kaum das Äussere der israelischen Häuser anzukratzen vermögen – trotzdem aber eine israelische Antwort auslösen, die Hunderte das Leben kostet!“
„Warum haben Sie uns Verräter und Agenten geschimpft, als wir sagten dass Hamas kein Recht hat, Unschuldige und Wehrlose zu gefährden, während ihre Führer in ihren Kellern saßen, in Moscheen und Schulen?“
Und schließlich:
It is unfortunate that Khalid Mishal now begins to speak with reason, after nearly 1,400 Gazans were killed, more than 5,000 were wounded, and a cost to the [Palestinian] economy of almost 1.9 billion dollars.
